Bukayo Saka cuts Tottenham fans’ ears as he doubles Arsenal’s lead as Gunners run riot in north London derby

Bukayo Saka appeared to block the ears of Tottenham fans twice as Arsenal took an early lead in the north London derby.

The Gunners led 1-0 with just 15 minutes on the clock, Spurs star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg turning his header into his own goal following Saka’s corner.

As Arsenal players ran to celebrate, television cameras filmed Saka running from the corner flag to join his teammates.

But before reaching them, he appeared to gesture towards the home fans behind the goal, raising his right hand to his ear.

Tottenham then thought they had equalized seven minutes later, but Micky van de Ven’s effort was ruled out for offside.

Saka then rubbed even more salt into Spurs’ wounds by scoring his team’s second goal.

Kai Havertz sent a delicious ball over the top for Saka to run onto, the winger then placing the ball into the bottom left corner.

The England international covered his ears with both hands this time as he ran away to celebrate his side’s 2-0 victory.

Saka is now the first Englishman to score more than 15 goals in a Premier League season for Arsenal since Ian Wright in 1996/97.

He is also the first Englishman to score home and away for Arsenal against Tottenham since Ian Wright in 1993/94.

The Gunners further dampened Spurs’ afternoon barely 10 minutes after Saka’s goal.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were undone by another free kick, with Havertz rising highest for his side’s corner to blast past Guglielmo Vicario.

Darren Bent believes that even if Arsenal win all of their remaining matches, it may not be enough to win the title.

As things stand, the Gunners are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League, with Man City second with two games in hand.

Pep Guardiola’s side face Nottingham Forest in a late kick-off this Sunday.
