Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills begin preparing for their Sunday night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
After beating the Baltimore Ravens by a final score of 27-25 in the divisional round, the Bills still have one game to win to advance to the Super Bowl.
Of course, facing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs won’t be an easy task. Kansas City hopes to triple as champions this season.
Buffalo is up for the challenge of trying to take down the two-time defending champions.
In recent years, the Bills playing the Chiefs has become commonplace. Allen and Buffalo are more than aware of what they’re getting into this weekend.
All that being said, Allen spoke honestly about the upcoming matchup with Mahomes.
“We know what they are. They are the sustainability of what you want to be in the NFL,” Allen said. “You have to beat them to get past them. So, you know, we’re going to take advantage of this one tonight.”
Even though he beat Kansas City earlier in the season, Allen knows the playoffs are a different game.
βThe regular season is what the regular season is, and no matter how well you perform when you get to the playoffs, it doesn’t really matter,β Allen said. “It’s tough to beat a team twice. We understand that. We know that. It’s a team we beat early in the season, but it’s not the same team. They got some guys back in defense and offense, and I can’t tell you enough right now I don’t know much about it because I’ve been focusing on the Ravens, so we’ll get to that tomorrow.”
Obviously, the Bills superstar is well aware of the challenge his team faces. However, a win against Kansas City would give Buffalo a ton of momentum heading into the Super Bowl if they get there.
To beat the Chiefs, the Bills will need to focus on a few specific things.
On the road against Kansas City, Buffalo will have to take care of the football offensively. They have to play, but they can’t afford to give the Chiefs any extra possessions.
Additionally, the Bills will need to pressure Mahomes and keep him in the pocket.
Other than that, they just have to play harder than Kansas City. Buffalo needs to play with a sense of desperation and pass it on to the Chiefs on every play.
Let’s hope the bills are up to the challenge. It won’t be easy, but Buffalo has the talent to pull off an upset. Only time will tell, but the stage is set for the Bills and Kansas City to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.
