At some point next weekend, the NFL game of the week will unfold at Highmark Stadium in the idyllic suburb of Orchard Park, NY. Though we don’t yet know what time or day, we do have some very early opening odds for Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens.
As of publishing, the Bills enter next weekend as the slightest of favorites (-1.5) at FanDuel Sportsbook — and with what may prove to be a very low U/O of 51.5. This game should live up to every expectation certain to be built around it. One might say that any favorable odds to Buffalo at this time are due to Bills Mafia.
Let’s be honest and admit that this one will start and end with quarterbacks Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Any stats before next weekend’s game won’t matter — nor will how fast either ran or threw a ball prior to their latest meeting. Their regular-season accomplishments will hold no favor, and any talk of MVP will be fruitless if not centered around how each quarterback plays during the divisional round.
And isn’t that really how this near-season-long back-and-forth between Allen and Jackson should be decided? Though it’s all about quarterback with the Bills and Ravens, both teams have plenty of talent surrounding their QB. Baltimore’s roster has the most-awarded roster, while Buffalo has rights to claim just as much talent — though the type that continues to escape the NFL media microscope.
Will their next matchup play out similarly to the game earlier this season? Bills Mafia better hope that’s not the case — or else it’ll be yet another early playoff exist — and the third such case at home in as many seasons.
What do you predict happens next weekend for head coach Sean McDermott, Josh Allen, and the rest of the Buffalo Bills?
