Budda Baker’s live reaction to D.K. Metcalf’s touchdown-saving tackle: ‘How’d he catch my ass?’

Cardinals safety Budda Baker had the same reaction to Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf chasing him down as everyone else.

Baker appeared to have a pick-six sitting right in front of him in the second quarter of Sunday night’s game between Arizona and Seattle, but Metcalf refused to quit on the play and chased Baker down the sideline like a cheetah pursuing a gazelle. Metcalf hit a top speed of 22.64 mph and traveled 114.8 yards to tackle Baker, according to Next Gen Stats.

The Seattle defense then forced a turnover on downs, so Metcalf truly made a touchdown-saving stop. Baker couldn’t help but appreciate the effort, tweeting after the game that Metcalf “hawked my ass.”

It turns out Baker was even more surprised in real time. The Cardinals shared a clip Tuesday of the 24-year-old’s reaction immediately after the mad dash.

“How’d he catch my ass?” Baker said. “I was tired as hell, boy. He ran me the f— down.

Yep, we were all asking the same question.

If you want to check out the full mic’d up video, you can watch it below. Baker said he was feeling fast during pregame warmups — but Metcalf was feeling a little faster.
