Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber placed on 10-day injured list – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Phillies players Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber both reportedly avoided serious injuries in Thursday night’s loss to the Miami Marlins, sources told NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark.

In announcing their roster changes for Friday night’s game against the Marlins, the Phillies revealed that Harper was on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring, while Schwarber was also on the injured list. on the injured list for 10 days due to a left groin strain.

Infielder Kody Clemens also returned from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and was reinstated to the 10-day injured list. The Phillies also recalled outfielder Johan Rojas from Lehigh Valley.

Harper limped off the field with an apparent hamstring injury after reaching the final out for the Philadelphia Phillies in their 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Thursday night.

Rushing down the line while trying to beat a grounder on the right side, Harper hit his left hamstring after crossing first base and limped toward the dugout.

“I felt my lower calf, just a little bit. We’re going to take a picture tomorrow and see what it looks like,” Harper said Thursday. “See how I feel tomorrow and go from there.”

Schwarber, meanwhile, was knocked out in the ninth inning after feeling strain in his left groin following an awkward throw from the outfield. Schwarber, normally a designated hitter, started in left field – only his third game in the field this season.

“I reached out to catch the ball with my bare hands and I kind of planted myself to throw it and I felt it catch,” Schwarber said. “At first I thought it was just a cramp and I finished the round. But, as I was running (between heats), I could still kind of feel it, so I talked to the coach and he didn’t like where the spot was…so he wanted get me out of there. »

Harper said he’s “never really had a soft tissue injury” before. He said he felt discomfort halfway down the first base line. When asked how concerned he was, he sounded cautious.

“I don’t know,” he said. “Like I said, I’ve never felt anything like this before. It hurts.”

The injury occurred after Harper was voted by fans to start at first base for the National League in the July 16 All-Star Game in Texas. Schwarber is one of six other Philadelphia players who are finalists to start at their position in the next round of voting.

Harper is hitting .303 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs.
