The European Commission plans to slap prices up to 25% on a wide range of United States exports in response to the prices imposed on steel and aluminum by US President Donald Trump, according to a document from the internal commission observed by Politico.
The EU executive wishes to impose a 25% function of a wide range of American exports, including soy, sweet corn, rice, almonds, orange juice, cranberries, tobacco, iron, steel, aluminum, certain boats and vehicles, textiles and certain clothes, and various types of makeup.
The total amount of American exports affected by EU prices is 22.1 billion euros on the basis of EU 2024 imports, according to public Eurostat figures, below the commission estimates to strike 26 billion euros to “reflect” the damage caused by steel and Trump aluminum prices.
