Bruno Fernandes scores stunning goal for Portugal amid uncertain future at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes showed just how important he is to Portugal with a superb goal that helped Portugal win 4-2 against Finland.

The Manchester United captain scored twice in Tuesday night’s friendly, his first in the 55th minute seeing him expertly unleash his effort into the top left corner of the net from the edge of the area.

Fernandes has 22 goals for Portugal and has been directly involved in 17 of his last 12 matches for Portugal.

That put Portugal 3-0 up in Lisbon and Fernandes sealed the win with a cool finish after the away team had pulled two goals back in quick succession.

Fernandes’ double comes amid uncertainty over his future at Old Trafford, with Saudi Arabia interested in him.

talkSPORT understands Fernandes wants to stay at Man United but would like more clarity on his future with his current contract until the summer of 2026.

And judging by his performance on Tuesday night, Man United may be determined to tie him down.

After Ruben Dias’ header and a Diogo Jota penalty put Roberto Martinez’s side 2-0 ahead, Fernandes put the home side in control with his rocket.

The 29-year-old actually started the move by driving the ball into the box to find Man United teammate Diogo Dalot, who then found Goncalo Ramos.
