Bruno Fernandes rejected a huge offer from the Saudi Club Pro-Ligue al-Hilal.
Fernandes spent the last days to consider seriously the agreement which would have more than doubled his salary at Manchester United, where he is one of the largest employees.
However, after discussing the issue with his family, Fernandes informed Al-Hilal that he will not join them.
It is likely that he will be asked about the situation later Tuesday, while he should make a pre-match press conference in Germany before the semi-final of the League of Nations in Portugal on Wednesday.
United would be delighted by the news, who came after head coach Ruben Amorim expressed his conviction on Friday that Fernandes would remain in Old Trafford.
There were no direct conversations between United and Al-Hilal, so they were never presented with an offer that they could refuse.
However, it was planned that Al-Hilal was ready to offer between 80 million pounds sterling and 100 million pounds sterling to sign the 30-year-old player for the club World Cup this month.
It is not clear if they will now pursue new targets.
Fernandes made 290 appearances and scored 98 goals for the club since his move of 47 million Sterling pounds from Sporting in January 2020.
Manchester United’s former right back, Gary Neville told Sky Sports that he thought that the transfer would not have been a bad deal for the Old Trafford Club but added: “It is so important.
“The fact that he wants to stay, the fact he wants to go through this and get out on the other side, because it would have been easy for him at the end of this season to say:` `listen, I finished here ”, will do it even more towards Manchester United fans.
“To refuse this money to a point where Manchester United is at their lowest reflux and say:” No, I want to fight through it, I want to see it on the other side, I want to go out and do things “, I think that speaks volumes about him as a person, as a character.
“The club needs people who will cross a brick wall for them.”
