While the Bruins have deployed fan captains for years in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, TD Garden revealed a few other special surprises in the Boston barn ahead of Game 1 against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Before warm-ups and during a special pre-game ceremony, the icy surface of TD Garden served as the backdrop for a laser projection show.

Boston has partnered with Quince Imaging to integrate RGB laser projection mapping technology into their game presentation for the 2024 playoffs.

The process involved 12 pure 4k50-RGB laser projectors mounted to the rafters of the garden, creating an impressive ice projection show. This is the first use of RGB laser projection technology used in the NHL.

The Bruins could look to the future in hopes of another successful playoff run. But as part of the centennial festivities, Boston also looked to the past as part of its annual fan captain tradition in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

For the first game, the Bruins welcomed back former goaltender and 1988 playoff hero Reggie Lemelin. The Bruins plan to bring back a “playoff hero” to serve as fan banner captain for each of the team’s home games at Causeway Street.
