Bruce Fischer, Husband of Senator Deb Fischer, Refuses to Shake Kamala Harris’ Hand and Goes Viral

The husband of a Republican US senator refused to shake Vice President Kamala Harris’ hand during a swearing-in ceremony.

Video of the swearing-in of Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer on Friday went viral Monday after being posted by liberal commentator Brian Tyler Cohen and shared by numerous other left-wing accounts.

In the clip, Ms. Fischer takes the oath of office, Ms. Harris shakes the Nebraskan’s hand and says “Congratulations.” Thank you for your work.

Ms. Harris then turns to her husband Bruce Fischer and says, “Can I congratulate you?” and extends his hand to him.

Mr. Fischer says “thank you” but refuses his outstretched hand.

Mrs. Harris looks surprised and raises her eyebrows but says nothing.

As president of the Senate, the vice president usually administers the oath of office to new senators at the start of each Congress. Ms. Fischer won her third term in November.

Ms Fischer’s social media accounts had said nothing as of Monday afternoon.
