The brother of Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho trolled Jamie Carragher and Liverpool following their 3-0 defeat to Atalanta.

Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered a shock defeat against the Italians at Anfield in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.

A double from Gianluca Scamacca and a late goal from Mario Pasalic now mean Liverpool have everything to do in the second leg in Italy.

Garnacho’s brother Roberto took full advantage of the Reds’ misery with a tweet targeting both the club and Carragher.

He wrote to the former defender on X: “Your team is absolutely rubbish.”

Carragher himself was unimpressed with Liverpool’s performance that evening, although he did not respond to Roberto’s message.

“Horrible result and performance from Liverpool, the only consolation for being beaten so badly is that Jurgen should play a complete second string in the second leg and go all-in for the league!” he wrote on X.

Scamacca made the breakthrough after 38 minutes after goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, replacing the injured Alisson, allowed his shot to slip over.

The hosts then conspired to miss several golden chances, with Darwin Nunez miscuing twice and Harvey Elliott hitting the woodwork, and were then made to pay.

Taking advantage of poor marking, Scamacca doubled Atalanta’s lead with a fine finish before Pasalic collected a rebound to score seven minutes from time.

The latest defeat comes after Liverpool’s title hopes were dealt a blow following their 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

Klopp’s men will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday.
