Bronny James scores 13 points in Lakers’ NBA Summer League win

LAS VEGAS — Lakers rookie Bronny James had his second straight promising performance in the NBA Summer League on Thursday night, scoring 13 points in Los Angeles’ 93-89 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The son of NBA leading scorer LeBron James scored eight points in the first half on 3-of-5 shooting.

He finished the game making 5 of 10 shots, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range.

James also had five rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.

James, the 55th overall pick in this year’s draft, struggled throughout summer league until scoring 12 points Wednesday night in an 87-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

So far, James had made 7 of 31 field goals this summer and 4 of 19 field goals in two games in Las Vegas.

James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists last season in his lone year of college basketball at Southern California, appearing in the team’s final 25 games.

He was unable to start the season after requiring surgery to correct what was diagnosed as a congenital heart defect, discovered after he suffered a cardiac arrest during training last summer.
