Broncos RB RJ Harvey shows the potential with vision, the withdrawal capacity to the minicamp recruit

Englewood, Colorado – The choice of second round, RJ Harvey, stopped taking pictures and began to take transfers upon arrival at the University of Central Florida in 2020.

The former quarter of the secondary initially attended the University of Virginia while he was trying to play the position at the college level, but he quickly realized that his path to the NFL would arrive via a different position in the rear field.

Harvey’s decision turned out to be the right one, because he set the UCF touch record and led the Big 12 in the grounds of his last college season. He became the second player in school history to record consecutive seasons of 1,000 yards, and only three FBS half-courses had more yards on the ground than Harvey in the last two seasons.

While Harvey took his first snaps as a player of the NFL during the minicamp recruit of the broncos, however, his experience in the quartermns always pay dividends.

“I have the impression that playing the quarterrier gave me an advantage with my vision,” said Harvey on Saturday. “I know what to expect. I can see what the defense does. I feel like it gives me an advantage.”

The managing director George Paton said after the draft of the NFL 2025 that Harvey could have the best vision of any ball carrier in the draft, and the competence was exposed during the open training on Saturday.

The same goes for Harvey’s ability to catch the ball out of the rear field. While he caught only 20 assists last season, Harvey showed his athletics on Saturday – and head coach Sean Payton said that the team was intentional to obtain young young players representatives.

“I think that when you look at a lot of university offenses, I don’t know how frequency the ball carrier is integrated into the game of passes,” said Payton. “I think they are, to a certain extent, but perhaps a little more at the NFL level. Today, we had two or three diagrams that have entered. … If you have one of these pieces in the script, we try to make sure that it gets this representative.”

Payton said Harvey will be able to play third place – in addition to the first and second – due to a variety of protection options.

“There are a lot of things we can do … to really adapt his strengths,” said Payton.

And while Payton said Broncos will not “get into the habit” to ask Harvey to block the bigger blitz secondors, he thinks that Harvey’s construction will allow him to succeed.

“If you look at his stature, it is quite well set up,” said Payton. “So there is a difference between a little runner and a short runner. We are not interested in small runners, but we agree with the short runners.”

While the Broncos develop their vision of Harvey, the young ball carrier has already watched the film of former rushers of saints Darren Sproles and Alvin Kamara.

“(I) I really want to be like these guys,” said Harvey.

At the start of the practice, Payton and the Broncos seem to be encouraged by Harvey’s progress.

“He resumed what we do very quickly,” said Payton. “You can say that it is really important for him. … He looks good, however. We are happy that he is there.”

Harvey – Who replied “Bo Nix” when asked what made Denver an attractive landing place – is also happy to be with broncos.

“I am so blessed and happy to be here in the Broncos country,” said Harvey. “(I am) just ready to present my skills to everyone.”
