‘Bro let the $300,000 cloud his judgement’ – UFC 300 star makes huge gaffe as he suffers come-from-behind loss to potential Paddy Pimblett opponent

Jalin Turner made a major mistake against Renato Moicano at UFC 300 on Sunday morning.

The American MMA star sent his opponent falling to the canvas with a huge left hand in the opening stanza, but rather than finishing Moicano on the ground, Turner came away thinking the fight was over.

Turner let Moicano off the hook

To the surprise of “The Tarantula” referee, Herb Dean waved to continue the fight as Moicano got up to see the end of the round.

In the second, Moicano took Turner to the ground where he landed several powerful elbows and punches to his opponent’s dome.

The damage piled up and eventually, the fight was broken up as a helpless Turner turned and turned away.

Immediately afterwards, the Brazilian exclaimed: “No one can hurt me.

“I’m ‘Money f******* Moicano. I’m not going to stop until I get the belt. UFC, you have to respect me, I’m the best in the business.

While fans were certainly impressed by Moicano’s fiery return, the majority of reactions focused on Turner’s poor decision-making in the first frame.

One fan wrote, “Bro let the $300,000 cloud his judgment,” in reference to the $300,000 performance bonus increase for UFC 300.

Another tweeted: “Never chase the moment, always chase the finish, a lesson learned for Turner.”

A third added: “I can’t imagine losing a fight for celebrating early.”

While a fourth joked: “The boy forgot it’s not boxing.”

MMA fighters, past and present, were equally critical of Turner.

Three-time UFC world title challenger Kenny Florian posted: “Mo Money for Moicano! Turner will look back on this fight and really regret his decision not to pursue an injured Moicano in the first round. Renato was clinical from the first position. Waited for the opportunity to kill and I went for it. #UFC300.”

PFL’s Johnny Elben tweeted: “Fight until the ref pulls you out. Great win by money Moicano!”

Former UFC welterweight Alan Jouban added: “I wonder if Turner was hesitant to follow through on his finish with Bobby Green. #UFC300.”

Moicano has been linked with a fight against England star Paddy Pimblett in recent weeks.

Ahead of UFC 300, he told the assembled media that he would happily accept an “easy fight” against Liverpudlian, but insisted the UFC would have to give his contract a boost to fight someone of ranked lower than him at lightweight.
