During his playing career, Özil was barely recognized for his strength or power and was known for his creativity as an attacking midfielder.

Throughout his career at Arsenal and Real Madrid, the former Germany international scored hundreds of goals with his teammates while participating in rare strikes himself, almost always cosmetic.
But since hanging up his boots, Özil has put his all into the gym and reaped big rewards.
Showing off his new physique on social media, the 35-year-old posted on his Instagram story.
Dressed almost military style, fans might be shocked to see the size of Özil’s weapons these days.
In a short clip of him lifting weights, the former point guard wasn’t kidding as his muscles were pumped up.
Özil could have been criticized for his lack of work rate during his time at the Emirates.
But the German could now make his detractors eat those words – literally – as his fans showed their support on several of his Instagram posts broadcasting his body transformation.

Özil retired in March 2023 after citing multiple injuries that affected his playing time at Istanbul Basaksehir.
He managed just four appearances for the Turkish club having joined them the previous summer after failing to impress at Fenerbahce.
Although injuries may have affected his performances on the field at the end of his career, it is clear that in his pomp, there was not much better than Özil.
He spent eight years in north London, but the midfielder could have been at his best at Real Madrid, where he linked up with Cristiano Ronaldo in one of their deadliest partnerships.
In three seasons at the Bernabeu, he provided 27 assists for Ronaldo – only Karim Benzema managed more than the Portuguese superstar in Madrid (31 assists in ten seasons).
