Matthew Hudson -Smith became the first athlete to take the $ 100,000 jar on the Grand Slam song – but Michael Johnson’s new event was destroyed by sparse crowds.
The British star exceeded the ranking of her long sprint category with 20 points after winning his 200 -meter race in Jamaica, one day after finishing second in the 400m.
“I arrive at the end of my career, so it’s time to start saving,” said the 400m Olympic silver medalist when asked how he spent the money record price.
“You run the best in the world, so to come back in mind, it’s a great feeling.
“There have been a lot of discussions on the Grand Slam, some negatives, but to be exceeded my expectations and it is incredible to be part. I encourage all the athletes to try it.
Another Briton, Zharnel Hughes, won $ 50,000 after being second in his short sprints category, won by the American Kenny Bednarek. Hughes finished second in 200m after a third per 100m.

Dina Asher -Smith finished fifth in her long group of sprints – winning $ 20,000 – after being last over her unknown distance of 400 m, despite a personal record of 52.15 seconds.
The inaugural edition of Grand Chelem Track, however, was marred by almost empty stadiums from the National Stadium of 35,000 inhabitants in Kingston.
After months of promoting and threshing media, Friday’s opening evening only drew 6,000 spectators. Consequently, the organizers of Slam invited all the schoolchildren for free for the second evening of action on Saturday, but the attendance was a little better.
Questioned by Sport Mail on ticket sales on the eve of the event, Johnson said that he hoped for a full stadium ”, but admitted: “ Are we going to get a full stadium in the first slam in the first year? I’m not sure. The main thing for us is to make sure people know that we are here.
“The excitement is preparing and I hope they spend a good time there, then we will spend Miami and continue to grow.
“It will be our first year. We know that we will have to continue to grow. There are many measures that we have to look at, but we will focus on the growth of slam in slam, then from season to season.
The second slam begins in Miami on May 2, before the last two meetings in Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
