Private Eye, the British satirical magazine, dedicated its latest cover to apologizing to President Donald Trump in the most sarcastic and vehement way.
The first page of the publication was titled “Donald Trump: An Apology.”
“Like every other media organization, we have in the past been able to create the impression that we believe Mr. Trump is a shady, deranged, orange-faced man-baby who poses a threat to democracy and who should be in prison rather than being imprisoned. White House. We realize today, in the light of his return to supreme power, that he is in fact a political colossus, the voice of common sense, a champion of freedom, a model of probity and the savior of the Western world. . He is also slim, handsome and young.
“We would like to apologize unreservedly for any confusion caused by our previous statements and thank President Trump for his kind invitation to give him £94 million to attend his inauguration.”
The fine print at the bottom of the page read: “This statement has not been verified. »
The magazine has long mocked the outgoing president.
One such memorable example occurred during Trump’s 2016 campaign, when, for his cover, he altered street artist Shepard Fairey’s iconic “Hope” image of then-President Barack Obama, reading “Grope” under a photo of the then-Republican presidential candidate.
In this new issue of Private Eye, the magazine criticized Trump’s comments on taking control of the Panama Canal and buying Greenland from Denmark and jokingly suggested him as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize after his total pardon granted to the insurgents of January 6.
A photo of Trump dancing with the Village People was also captioned: “Return of the village idiot (surely ‘people’?)”
