Britain’s political tastes have been revealed: the Conservatives prefer fish and chips, while Labor supporters order pizza and the Liberal Democrats choose sushi. So how does takeaway rank in YOUR area?

Conservatives prefer fish and chips while Labor supporters prefer to order pizza, according to a new poll.

The poll, carried out by Best For Britain, found almost a quarter of Conservatives would opt for fish and chips above anything else, compared to 19 per cent of Labor voters.

Meanwhile, almost 18 percent of Labor supporters would choose pizza as their favorite takeaway, while only around 13 percent of Conservatives want that food most.

However, Labor and the Conservatives favored Chinese as the best takeaway by almost identical proportions – with just over 26 per cent in both cases.

The Greens are the only party whose voters chose an Indian as their favorite and, although it remains the least popular nationally, sushi is almost twice as popular among Lib Dem voters as the Tories or the Labor.

More than a quarter – 26 per cent – of Brits chose Chinese as their favorite takeaway.

More than a quarter of Brits – 26 per cent – chose Chinese as their first choice, with East Asian cuisine taking the top spot in England, Scotland and Wales.

Fish and chips came in second, with just over a fifth of those surveyed choosing seaside food as their favorite takeaway.

Indian food comes in third with 17 percent, while pizza follows closely with 16 percent.

Less popular choices include kebabs – at 7 percent – chicken shops at 4 percent and sushi at just 2.5 percent.

Best for Britain also revealed the rankings of the takeaways in every constituency in Britain.

In Uxbridge and South Ruislip, the meal comes third after Chinese food and takeaway pizzas.

Boris Johnson’s replacement in the constituency, Tory MP Steve Tuckwell, has launched a bizarre campaign video in which he pledges to open more fish and chip shops in the area after his election – despite saying he will already opposed when he was an advisor.

In Orkney and Shetland, the ‘I don’t like takeaway’ option was found to be more popular than pizza and Indian, suggesting that Scottish islanders prefer a home-cooked meal.

There’s also a clear generational difference when it comes to deciding what to buy in a takeout for dinner.

Cal Roscow, director of the Best for Britain and GetVoting.org campaigns, said: “After 14 years of Tory failure, something doesn’t smell right. It’s not just time to change the oil in the fryer, it’s time to change the government.

“We know that in the next election it will be crucial to take the pulse of every constituency with up-to-date and accurate data to give voters the information they need to give the government a run for its money. That’s why we let’s probe everything from voting intention to their favorite takeaway treat.

The survey of 15,029 adults for Best for Britain was carried out by Survation between March 8 and 22, 2024.
