Bridget Jones’ real map of London: inside where Britain’s favorite bachelorette hung out from the pub where she downed shots in her (VERY expensive) apartment – as Renée Zellweger returns for the fourth installment of the successful franchise

Bridget is officially back, with Renée Zellweger spotted on the set of the fourth film, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, earlier this week.

News of the beloved character’s return to the big screen has excited fans who are anticipating the film’s release nearly ten years after the release of its prequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.

The latest version, which is said to be based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel of the same name, will also see Hugh Grant return as his love rat character Daniel Cleaver – although his death was faked in the last movie.

The film is set to follow Bridget as she navigates the death of Mark Darcy – played by Colin Firth – as a single mother of two.

The first film, Bridget Jones’s Diary, was released in 2001 and grossed £222 million at the box office, more than ten times what it cost.

It remains one of the most successful British romantic comedies, with most of the filming taking place in central London.

Here, MailOnline explores all the iconic locations that were used for filming all three films, including the Bachelorette’s expensive flat in London Bridge.

8 Bedale Street, Southwark

Bridget’s small upstairs flat, located at the top of a pub in Borough Market, features prominently in the film series, and its disorganized layout, with open magazines and books and empty glasses left on the ground, reflects the character’s chaotic life.

It’s the apartment where she prepares blue soup, spends days with Cleaver and where Darcy arrives at her door to declare his love for her for the first time.

The one-bedroom flat near Borough Market is now worth almost £1million.

In the films, the apartment is characterized by its patterned rugs, large bookshelves, framed photos and huge chandeliers.

Globe Tavern, Borough Market

The singleton’s apartment is located directly above this Victorian pub dating from the late 1800s.

Hidden under the arches of London Bridge, the exterior of the pub has been used for several film shots.

The famous fight scene between Darcy and Cleaver in the first film was filmed near the Bedales of Borough wine merchant’s pub which was disguised as a Greek restaurant.

The pub's back door served as the entrance to Bridget's apartment in the films.

The comical brawl in the 2001 film saw Darcy and Daniel Cleaver rolling on the floor. According to director Sharon Maguire, the fight was not choreographed because “middle-class men” simply have “no idea” about fighting.

Hugh Grant and Colin Firth both rejected a stunt coordinator to choreograph the fight because they didn't think their characters would know the fight moves.

Royal Exchange, Threadneedle Street

The romantic moment where Bridget and Darcy share a passionate kiss in the snow was filmed outside No. 11 Royal Exchange Buildings on Threadneedle Street, Cornhill.

In a last-minute twist in the first film, Bridget leaves her apartment and runs to find Darcy, who is keeping a new diary for her. The final shot, where they finally locked lips, was filmed outside the Mont Blanc diary store.

Rigby & Peller, Mayfair

In Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, Darcy invites Bridget to a fancy bar dinner, and she is looking for a suitable dress and lingerie.

She goes to the luxury lingerie store Rigby & Peller on Conduit Street, Mayfair, and buys a corset.

A Great George Street

The posh legal counsel dinner that Darcy – an international human rights lawyer – invites Bridget to is a pivotal moment in the third installment of the film series.

The memorable scene was filmed at the four-domed, Grade II-listed One Great George Street building, located just off Parliament Square.

While Bridget was initially excited to be invited to the dinner, things quickly went south with a series of incidents that culminated in Bridget failing a team quiz.

Bridget is also filmed descending the grand staircase of the Edwardian building in the 2004 film.

Pickfords Wharf Apartments, Clink Street

This was the location of the elegant bachelor pad in which Cleaver lived. The property, which overlooks the River Thames, was put up for sale for more than £3 million in 2012.

This is where the hilarious “tummy control” panty scene took place and where Bridget later discovered a naked woman in the bathroom.

Hyde Park Italian Gardens, Westminster

The comical scene from the 2004 film, where Cleaver and Darcy fight again, but this time in a fountain, was filmed in the Italian fountains of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. It saw Darcy confront Cleaver for abandoning Bridget in Thailand before the pair got into another hilarious fight.

Darcy was furious after Cleaver left Bridget at the airport when she was arrested by Thai police after unknowingly carrying drugs through customs.

Bridget had flown to Thailand with Cleaver to film a show before she was involved in a serious incident which led to her being arrested by Thai police.

Greenwich Park

The heartwarming father-daughter scene from Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) was filmed on a Greenwich Park bandstand.
