Brian Kelly roasted over CFP boycott comments after Notre Dame blown out by Clemson

Brian Kelly obviously never heard the phrase, “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.”
The Notre Dame football coach made headlines during his Friday news conference when he said the Irish would threaten a boycott of the College Football Playoff if families weren’t allowed to attend the games.
Kelly may be regretting his words now. Notre Dame was flat out embarrassed by Clemson in the ACC Championship game, losing 34-10. Now, with No. 4 Ohio State winning the Big Ten Championship and No. 5 Texas A&M comfortably beating Tennessee, the No. 2 Irish (10-1) are in serious danger of being left out of the Playoff.

Of course, there was no sympathy for Kelly or Notre Dame on Twitter.
The internet remains ruthless, and also hilarious. Here are some of the best roasts fans had to offer:
Brian Kelly said Notre Dame wouldn’t play in the playoff if families couldn’t come.
To his credit, he’s a man of his word and doing everything he can to not play in the playoff.

Fans also roasted Notre Dame’s inability to win big games over recent years, which extends well beyond Kelly’s tenure.
Notre Dame in BCS/NY6/CFP games last 25 years …
’01 Fiesta: L 41-9 to Oregon State.
’06 Fiesta: L 34-20 to Ohio State.
’07 Sugar: L 41-14 to LSU.
’13 BCS title game: L 42-14 to Bama.
’16 Fiesta: L 44-28 to Ohio State.
’18 CFP: L 30-3 to Clemson.Today’s not surprising.
