Brewers and Rays throw punches in massive brawl to clear bench

The Rays aren’t making many friends this season.

After struggling in March against the Blue Jays, they found themselves facing the Brewers on Tuesday night in Milwaukee.

The fight came in the eighth inning, with the Brewers leading 8-2 over the Rays when Jose Siri was knocked out.

That’s when Milwaukee pitcher Abner Uribe and Siri started biting each other, leading them to clash before Uribe threw a nasty right hook that sent Siri’s head back.

Siri attempted to back away but missed, forcing first base umpire Alex MacKay, who was trying to move her away, to duck and take cover.

Milwaukee’s Rhys Hoskins then pushed Siri away in an attempt to protect his pitcher.

A few more punches were thrown and the benches and bullpens were cleared as fans at American Family Field roared from the stands.

Uribe and Siri were eventually separated and dragged off the field by their respective teams.

Uribe and Siri were ejected from the game along with Brewers manager Pat Murphy and pitcher Freddy Peralta.

It was not immediately clear what led to the fight between Uribe and Siri.

Tampa has now recorded its second bench clearing brawl in the past two months following a brawl between Rays infielder José Caballero and Blue Jays pitcher Génesis Cabrera early in the season.

During that incident, the two came together and exchanged words after Caballero was hit for the final out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Cabrera finally pushed Caballero and the benches spilled.

However, no punches were thrown during this particular altercation.
