Brendan Fevola made a surprise return to the soccer field on Saturday morning, helping the local club in difficulty Masala Dandenong to break a long sequence of defeats in front of a buzzing crowd in the Twohig law reserve.
The former AFL superstar aligned itself for the club’s reserve team in third parties of Division 5 of the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), alongside the Pop icon and winner of the Australian idol, Guy Sebastian.
What started as an original radio promotion turned into a granular performance on the field, while Fevola and Sebastian led Masala to a tense victory from 55 to 53 on the districts of South Melbourne.
The appearance occurred only one week after the demoralization of 229 points of the team in the hand of St Bede Menton.
Fevola’s involvement came with a Fox FM competition, where he offered to play for a basic club in need.
Masala Dandenong, last on the ladder and desperate for a spark, jumped at the opportunity.

Despite 44 years and long retirement from the AFL, he was Vintage Fevola that day, six goals started to lead his team adopted until the victory.

The League confirmed that Fevola and Sebastian were allowed to play after the insurance that they would not receive any payment or benefits.

A producer of Fox FM said that the two men were happy to sign a legal document confirming their amateur status.
“This is a promotional exercise for the FEV (for the radio show) and Guy (for his music), not an exercise in money,” said the press release.
Despite the out -of -field control, Fevola’s objective on the ground was unshakable.
“I am pumped to play for Masala Dandenong on weekends!” He said earlier in the week.
“The VAFA is one of the major competitions in Australia and I hope we can win the boys this Saturday!”
He held this promise, Masala snatching a very necessary victory at two points.
