Brave mother-of-one reveals how her controlling ex sexually assaulted her just hours after raping another woman as he begins five-year prison sentence

A brave mother-of-one has revealed how her controlling ex sexually assaulted her just hours after raping another woman – as he begins a five-year prison sentence.

Depraved Anthony Plaskett attacked and “stomped” Sarah Campbell, 47, after she came out of the shower – rubbing his naked body against her.

Just hours before, he had raped another woman, forcing Ms. Campbell to come pick him up after his crime.

The couple had split three years previously due to his controlling behavior – but he convinced her to drive him home to the Scottish Borders and watched a film with their daughter before attacking her too.

When confronted about his crimes in court, the ill Plaskett described his victims as “scorned women”, before being jailed for five years for two counts of rape and sexual assault.

Today, Ms. Campbell, a city worker, courageously waived her right to anonymity to encourage other abuse survivors to report their abusers.

She said: “Tony was a predator and an abuser. He made my life hell when we were together.

“I’m relieved he’s off the streets, unable to harm anyone.

“Now I want other women to remember her face and stay away.”

Ms Campbell met Plaskett, 38, in late 2011 while living with her parents in Spain.

The following year, on Valentine’s Day, they were engaged and she became pregnant soon after.

The couple returned to the UK where she had their daughter.

But two years later, in 2014, Plaskett would stay out late and sometimes not come home after his weekend excesses.

Ms Campbell explained: “He wasn’t himself so I told him to move out because I didn’t want him to be with our daughter.”

Six months later the two got back together, but when he moved back in, Plaskett began controlling Ms Campbell.

He wouldn’t even let her go to the supermarket alone in case men talked to her.

Describing the time, she said: “If I wanted to change my hairstyle, he refused.

“He became mean and aggressive.”

And just before Christmas 2018, Ms Campbell ended things for good after receiving messages on Facebook from a woman claiming to have an affair with Plaskett.

He moved out and she began to rebuild her life, although he continued to see his daughter.

Then, in April 2021, Plaskett texted him one morning and said, “I’ll come over and have sex”?

Shocked, Ms Campbell replied: “No way, that’s not happening.” We don’t do that.

Plaskett then asked him to pick him up from a friend’s house.

When she saw him, he handed her a pair of jeans and asked her to wash them for him.

Reluctantly, she agreed and they returned to her house.

Plaskett watched a movie with their daughter while she took a shower.

But when she came out, Plaskett was outside the bathroom door, naked from the waist down.

Recalling the attack, she said: “He put his hands around me and tried to kiss me.

“I told him to stop and get off. I was afraid he would rape me.

“He persisted and kept trying to remove my towel and scratching my body.” It was horrible.

Finally, Plaskett stopped and told Ms. Campbell, “You made me look like a fool.”

The next morning, she received a call from a friend telling her that Plaskett had been arrested for rape.

Ms Campbell, who felt violated by the encounter, continued: “I was shocked and the memories of the day before came flooding back.

“I was beside myself.”

The following week, the police came to visit her and she gave her statement about her own sexual assault.

She also gave him the jeans Plaskett had given him, still unwashed.

The court heard Plaskett raped one woman in February 2020, then raped another the following year, hours before his attack on Ms Campbell.

When jurors heard several examples of what could be considered controlling behavior from Plaskett, he responded, “I would say what you’re listening to is a woman scorned – all three.”

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Plaskett was found guilty of two counts of rape against two women and sexual assault against Ms Campbell.

In January this year he was sentenced to five years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Ms Campbell said: “I want to encourage others to come forward and speak out, no matter how much time has passed.”

“You will be believed and will receive justice against your attackers. »
