The female shooter disqualified for refusing to fight a biological male opponent raised the cover on the shocking pro-astran culture at the end of the United States.
Stephanie Turner, 31, was in competition in a tournament at the University of Maryland when she took a knee and came out of her match against Trans Rival Redmond Sullivan, who was born a man.
After refusing to compete, Turner received a “black card” by fencing managers – who suspended him from the competition. The controversial decision has aroused indignation on social media among the users left dismayed by a female athlete punished for having chosen not to align against a biological man.
Despite the tumult, USA Fencing published a statement justifying its decision while supporting Sullivan, 20, and the inclusion of Trans athletes in female sports.
In an exclusive interview with Dailymail.com, Star Turner fencing revealed that it was afraid to reach out to fencing in the United States with its concerns, given the pro-transmitted views of high-ranking officials within the director.
She named Damien LEHFELDT – A director in general of the Board of Directors of American Fences – who directs a blog named “The Fencing Coach” and previously wrote a passionate defense of the inclusion of trans athletes in female sports.

Incredibly, Lehfeldt also published a series of false email exchanges on his Instagram account in 2023 (now deleted), in which he publicly dismantled various anti-trans arguments.
In screenshots seen by Dailymail.com, and published below, Lehfeldt said he received an e-mail from `Dorothy ”, who said that their` girls ” left a female fence because sport does not “respect real women” or will recognize “ there will always be two distinct DNAs “.
Responding to “E-mail”, Lehfeldt said: “Dear Dorothy, the year is 2023 and ultimately, you are no longer in Kansas. My daughter will compete against women, the final point. If she loses a woman of a variety, I will not remove her from the sport and write an email Pleurnichard announcing my departure.
“It’s a big lesson to teach your children. At this rate, they will overcome adversity with the same zeal as Karen Livide in a department store. You do not deserve the name “Dorothy”. You are a loose lion and the only sorcerer who will expel you from the myopic hole in which you have put yourself and your family is one of the varieties of “big sorcerer”. You train me with these emails. Be on your happy path along the yellow brick road.
In a conversation with our journalist, Lehfeldt confirmed that email exchanges were not “real”, although they were displayed as if they were legitimate conversations.
Turner, apparently ignoring that the messages were false, told Dailymail.com: “Damien Lehfeldt had received emails from people declaring that they were worried and that they were really upset by transgender policy.
“He would capture their emails and sent them personal attacks, then he would publish the emails on Instagram, almost.”
Sullivan changed university teams last year and has since materialized women
Turner says that she was afraid to reach out to fencing officials in the United States like Damien Lehfeldt (above)
By revealing more about his fears to reach the director body, Turner explained: “I said to myself, I don’t even want to reach out because if I do it, then I will never have a good fight in my life.
“There are a lot of people who are for that (Trans athletes in female sports) who are referees. I would lose the favor at the sight of the referees and I could end up with a biased fight. I could lose friends that I don’t know what their position is about it.
“So what I was already doing was avoiding tournaments where I knew there was a transgender shooter. But at this point, what should I do with any other? Do I just have to register for tournaments? I have no other options.
In his blog article, published for the first time in August 2023 and still available online, Lehfeldt wrote: “ The transgender titles deserve the right to compete with the sex with which they identify, and those of adulthood should comply with the directives and regulations of the competition described by the USA and CIO – Even, if the science () Impected. ”.
He also adds: “It is possible that transgender women have a physical advantage over their cisgenres opponents after the transition. There is also a possibility that they did not do it. At the end, there is no data to support one or the other point of view.
In another comment Thursday evening, Lehfeldt told Dailymail.com: “I encourage you to reach out to our own members and you will find a common theme of polished and cordial discussion with me concerning a very complex subject.
“I always salute a nuanced and respectful debate, and that includes Ms. Turner. Ms. Turner is welcome to her opinions. It is the beauty of discourse. We can come to the table and agree to disagree.
In articles now deleted on Instagram, Lehfeldt has created false conversations by e-mail with ‘Dorothy’
In a false email, he tore a worried “Dorothy” and called him a “loose lion”
USA Fencing added in a press release: “American fences adopted our current transgender and non -binary policy in 2023.
“Policy is based on the principle that everyone should have the capacity to participate in sports and was based on available research for the day. We understand that conversation on equity and inclusion concerning transgender participation in sport evolves.
“American fences will always be mistaken on the side of inclusion, and we are committed to modifying policy as research based on more relevant evidence emerges, or that policy changes take effect in the wider Olympic and Paralympic movement.
Turner during this time, which says that it has not been contacted by USA Fencing since its refusal to fight Sullivan has become viral this week, is convinced to protect the rights of women in all sports. So strongly, in fact, that it removed him from the Democratic Party and towards Donald Trump in last year’s elections.
Trump’s promise to ban transgender sports athletes influenced it to the Republicans, the hesitation of the Democrats to make the same thing prove a huge concern.
“This movement should not be political, but I find that there is a party which has been completely captured by radical policy, a radical social policy which acted as a kind of decisive test to let me know if a politician is ready to lie just to advance his own political career,” continued Turner.
“It just opened the door to me to start listening to the other side more, really. Because if you are ready to lie to me and tell me that a man can become a woman, then I wonder what else could you lie to me?
Turner, whose disqualification to refuse to face a trans rival has sparked a tumult, says that she feels sympathy for Sullivan but that she is most concerned about USA Fencing genre policy
Although she is strongly disagreed with her decision to go to the female team of her college, Turner admits that she feels a certain sympathy for Sullivan in the middle of the angry reaction on social networks.
After the controversial incident, fans went to social networks to explode fencing in the United States to disqualify a competitor and allow a transgender athlete to participate.
A user posted on X: “You allow biological men to compete with women, preventing women from reaching their dreams. Shame on you! ‘
“Why do you disqualify women and not the transgender people who invade female sports,” asked another.
It should be noted that fencing athletes are allowed to compete with the opposite sex, and Turner herself faced and beat men in recent fights.
The legend of tennis Martina Navratilova, who has often spoken against transgender women who participate in women’s sport in recent years, has also weighed on the controversy saying: “And again …”
But Turner insists that his biggest problem is that the organization directs sport in America.
“(Sullivan) is quite young, and I may think he took this gender movement, and perhaps at 10 years old, he could be a completely different person,” she said.
“But my reproach is not with him. It is with the USFA, its members of the board of directors and this policy. He follows this policy, yes, but in principle, it is not a good policy. You authorize men who have their male athletic advantage over women and forcing them to compete with women.
“So I feel sympathy in the fact that he may have had a lot of hatred in the last 24 hours. But at the same time, I have been dealing with this for four to five years, trying to find avenues to reach USFA so that they can eliminate this policy.
“I will give priority to my own physical security and the safety of other women and girls on this subject.”
