Brandon Aiyuk says 49ers ‘don’t want me’ amid contract talks – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

On June 16, 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted a TikTok video with the caption, “I’m laughing but I’m crying (for real).”

In the video, Aiyuk told his close friend and Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, “They said they didn’t want me back…I swear,” about the slow pace of contract negotiations between All-Pro and San Francisco.

Aiyuk gave a stunning explanation of what the 49ers told him before his TikTok post during a Friday appearance on “The Pivot” podcast with co-hosts Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor.

“They told me they didn’t think we were on the same page and they didn’t believe they would make it, and that was about it at that point,” Aiyuk said. “But that’s part of the contract negotiations.”

Aiyuk’s initial message made the situation much bleaker than he indicated on Friday.

Although the two sides appear far from reaching an agreement, San Francisco and its team leading in receiving yards remain focused on extending their dynamic partnership.

The 26-year-old mentioned that he and his girlfriend, Rochelle Searight, were documenting much of their summer, which is why his moment was captured on camera. A top player on the field, Aiyuk is trying to become a storyteller off of it.

“We’re starting to get our own footage, recording everything,” Aiyuk said. “I’m just enjoying the process. My wife is recording things, recording everything that’s happening so I can come back to it later. It’s an exciting time. It’s stressful, but it’s exciting.”

“I want to have those memories. And it’s just a moment that she captured. I got off the phone with the Niners, they told me what they told me, I relayed that information to (Daniels).”

Aiyuk’s NFL future remains a mystery, but at least the TikTok drama appears to be over. Now, the faithful must wait and see if Aiyuk’s guesses about his next team are correct.
