Brad Pitt Explains Why His Acting Career Is About to End

Brad Pitt is convinced he’s in the “final stage” of his acting career, but not for the reason fans might think.

The Oscar winner opened up in a recent joint interview for GQnext to his The Wolves his co-star George Clooney, about the meaning of the phrase he previously used regarding the future of his career.

“I meant it was seasons,” Pitt explained. “You know, there was the safety of the Ozarks. You go on this journey and it’s all about discovery, and it’s really exciting and interesting and painful and horrible and all that. And then when you’re let into the big leagues, it becomes another game of responsibility and duty. But also opportunity and fun and working with people you really respect.”

The 60-year-old actor continued to talk about his current life: “And then there’s this period. It’s: What are these last years going to be like? Because I see my parents are very… I see exactly what George was saying. At 80, your body gets more fragile. And yet, I look at Frank Gehry. He’s just the sweetest man. And he’s 95 and still making art and he has a beautiful family. And I think that’s kind of the formula for staying creative and still loving your life.”

THE Moneyball the actor-producer had already said GQ In 2022, he was thinking about what the final phase of his career would look like, as he is in his “final stage.”

Clooney added that they were both “lucky” to be able to plan for their futures, adding: “We’re in a profession where you don’t have to retire.”

However, when asked about the fear of losing a phone to find work at a certain age, Clooney says there are “two ways” actors go about it.

“The phone stops ringing if your decision is to continue being the character you were at 35 and you want a softer perspective,” said the Ticket to Paradise “But if you’re willing to go down the queue a little bit and do some interesting character work, then you can kind of… you have to make peace with the idea that you’re going to die!”

He continued: “I go up to people and they’re like, ‘Oh, you’re older than I thought.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m 63, you idiot!’ It’s just: that’s life. And so as long as you can make peace with the idea of change, then you’re fine. The hardest part, and I know a lot of actors who do this – and you (Pitt) do it too – is to not let go and to desperately try to hold on to it.”
