Boulevard Topanga Canyon closed indefinitely after the rain, fire damage, says Caltrans

Boulevard de Topanga Canyon will remain closed due to public security problems while crews work to repair the damage caused by the fire of the Palisades and the recent rains, said California Department of Transportation.

The video of mid-February published by Caltrans shows route 27 between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive completely covered with mud, rocks and debris before excavation. There is no estimated reopening time, according to an update of the community published last week. Caltrans did not describe alternative routes for motorists.

With the imminent repairs carried out after the fire and recent debris, Caltrans found and destroys a massive rock – roughly the size of a VR – which was precarious above the road near a power line, according to the press release.

Public services teams must redirect a main water line and underground power lines under the road. Before the rain, the workers found more than 20 locations along the boulevard Topanga Canyon which required flow barriers of the debris and replacement of Ponceau, as well as other safety measures such as the mesh of the rock falling cable.

“We recognize the essential role that these corridors play in cleaning and recovery efforts for residents and the public. The decision to reopen the tracks must be a joint decision of all parties with a specific plan in place and with security as a major consideration, “said Caltrans.

The ministry said that it would examine the limited access options and escorted to the area as repairs continue.
