GAINESVILLE, Fla. — There was standing room only for volunteers gathered near the University of Florida on a recent afternoon to learn how they could campaign for a referendum to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution.
Among the advice they received: Don’t mention the name of President Biden or Donald Trump. Describe abortion as a health issue, not a political issue. And don’t be afraid to get personal.
