Borussia Dortmund used Paris Saint-Germain’s social media post four years ago to mock the French club after knocking them out of the Champions League in the semi-finals.

Mats Hummels scored as Dortmund won 1-0 away in the second leg against PSG, with the German side securing a 2-0 victory on aggregate.

Dortmund will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final as they attempt to win the Champions League for the first time since 1997.

After confirming its place in the final at Wembley, Dortmund had obviously not forgotten PSG’s tweet after the round of 16 between the two teams in 2020.

In that tie, Dortmund won 2-1 in the first leg, but PSG won 2-0 in the second leg in Paris to prevail with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

After PSG’s 2020 victory, they posted a tweet that included the caption “and breathe” alongside a photo of the PSG team, including Kylian Mbappe imitating Erling Haaland’s famous meditation celebration.

After their victory on Tuesday evening, Dortmund had the last laugh by quoting the tweet and posting: “Tastes like good wine.”

Haaland, now of Manchester City, scored twice for Dortmund in the first leg in 2020, then posted an image of himself celebrating with the caption: “Zensational victory.”

Neymar copied Haaland’s celebration after scoring for PSG in the second leg, and many of his teammates did the same after the match.

PSG’s angst towards Haaland appears to stem from a false message that went viral.

A photo of Haaland with the caption “my city, not yours” with “Paris” handwritten on her sweater was reportedly taken from her Snapchat account.

However, the post was considered false.
