Border Patrol officers at Eagle Pass find abandoned Honduran toddler and 3-month-old siblings in Rio Grande

EAGLE PASS, Texas – US Border Patrol officers on the Rio Grande River noticed a strange color on the riverbank and made a heartbreaking discovery.

Officers were conducting boat operations on Tuesday when they spotted a toddler and baby in a baby carrier alone along the shore.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection shared a photo of the children where they were found.

Under the baby carrier, officers found a note indicating that the 2-year-old girl and the 3-month-old boy were siblings from Honduras.

Officers searched the area and found no additional individuals.

Surprisingly, the children did not need medical attention. They were taken to Uvalde for treatment.

It was not known how long the siblings were alone before they were discovered.
