Bomb threat leads to lockdown at Illinois Capitol – NBC Chicago
Illinois State Police and the Secretary of State’s Police Force initiated a lockdown in the capital on Sunday after a bomb threat, officials said.
According to Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias’ office, the threat was made Sunday afternoon, prompting the closure of the facility.
Police from both agencies conducted a search for explosives but found no “credible” threats and business was allowed to resume just after 2 p.m., officials said.
No further details were immediately released.
