The Costa Rican authorities released the body of Miller Gardner, the 14 -year -old son of the former Voltigeur of the New York Yankees, Brett Gardner, who died suddenly during family vacation in a local station.
Costa Rica’s judicial investigations confirmed on Sunday that the body was released on Wednesday to the mourning family and that the authorities continue to investigate the mysterious death of the teenager at the Arenas del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort at the Manuel Antonio National Park.
Brett and his wife Jessica Gardner and their two sons, Miller and Hunter, fell ill after eating in a local restaurant on March 20, and Miller was treated by the hotel medical staff, according to the police.
The next day, Miller was found dead in bed after vomiting.
The teenager was first of all died of asphyxiation caused by food poisoning, but this cause was then excluded, and the office of the medical examiner said that he is still waiting for toxicology tests to discover exactly what he died.
In an exclusive interview with the post last week, Dr. Kevin Gannon, who heads the emergency center of Manuel Antonio nearby, said his staff had been called to the hotel that morning and found Miller “who did not answer.
“We tested it for cardiac arrest and made the RCR for more than 30 minutes,” said Gannon. “There was not much that we could really do.”
The doctor has raised doubts about speculation that the teenager died of food poisoning or an allergic reaction to the medicines given to him by hospital doctors.
The authorities said that test results to determine what killed Miller could take up to three months.
The tragic death of the teenager made the headlines of the international newspapers and trembled the Yankees, which held a moment of silence in honor of Miller during the opening ceremonies last week.
Brett Gardner, 41, was a popular team player, where he spent his entire career in the major 14 -year -old league, notably by playing in the 2009 Bronx Bombers World Championship team.
