A body was found and a man was detained after a dead end of several hours with Swat deputies in a Vista house on Wednesday, said sheriff officials.
The identity of the deceased person and the man held was not immediately known, Lieutenant Sean Gallagher said on Wednesday. No other injury has been reported.
The incident started around 10 a.m. when the deputies were called upon to make a wellness check in a house on North Citrus avenue near Nevada avenue, said Gallagher.
During the check, the deputies reported that a man, who was perhaps armed, had barricaded himself inside the house, the investigators said.
SWAT team members and negotiators were called to the scene around 11 a.m.
During the next six hours, the deputies tried to negotiate with the man inside the house, said Gallagher. The suspect finally left the house and was arrested around 6 p.m.
Homicide detectives were called shortly after the deputies on the scene confirmed that there was a body inside the house, said Gallagher.
No other information was immediately available.
The incident is the subject of an investigation.
