Blues musicians meet together to support efforts to restore “the music they played on the 7th Oakland Street” Walk of Fame until its former glory.
The caravan of the west coast of All Stars, Oakland Blues Divas, JC Smith, Alvon Johnson, the Mississippi Chuck Wallace and Fillmore Slim are among the many blues talents that occur at the concert of Walk of FameFit on April 21 in Yoshi’s in Oakland.
The money collected will be used to help replace the 40 plates that have been withdrawn with ground by thieves a few months ago. The flight occurred on the section of the installation which takes place along the seventh street between the streets of Wood and Willow in West Oakland, according to Ronnie Stewart, founder and executive director of the Bay Area Blues Society, who led this project to honor the artists and other people who contributed to the powerful musical heritage of the East Bay.
The total price to buy and reinstall new plates is about $ 150,000, explains Stewart, who will also perform for the benefit of the caravan of the west coast of All Stars.
The theme of the show is “Best of the West” – and the music lovers will certainly have a lot during this concert, which indeed presents so many best blues / R&B musicians in the region. With the names already mentioned, the concert will also include Dee Dee Simon, Mike Skinner, Karl Bracy, Silk-E and several others.
The show is at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $ 30; yoshis.com.
