BJP’s Geeta Koda will fight JMM’s Joba Majhi in this Jharkhand seat

Singhbhum, one of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state of Jharkhand, has six Assembly segments. A constituency reserved for Scheduled Tribes, Singhbhum has 14.32 lakh voters, including 7.27 lakh women.

The constituency is mainly populated by Scheduled Tribes including Uraon, Mahato (Kurmi), Santhal, Pradhan, Gaur, Gop and Christian and Muslim voters.

The six Assembly segments that make up the Singhbhum seat are Saraikella, Chaibasa, Majhganon, Jagannathpur, Manoharpur and Chakradharpur.

Many interior districts in the Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat will see voting for the first time after a gap of decades.

Polling agents and materials will be dropped by helicopter to enable residents of Saranda, Asia’s largest Sal forest, to exercise their democratic rights, Deccan Herald reported.

Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituency will vote on May 13 in phase 4 of the general elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded a sitting MP, Geeta Koda, wife of former chief minister Madhu Koda.

Recently, Koda – the only Congress MP in the incumbent Lok Sabha – joined the saffron party.

She will face Joba Manjhi of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
