BJP plans to ban RSS, says Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was considering banning its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), after winning a third term in power.

Speaking at his last rally before the end of campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, Thackeray also said that the Election Commissioner who “acted like a servant of Modi” would be removed after the arrival in power of the Indian alliance government.

“The way they tried to use and launch the Shiv Sena, a similar game will be played by Narendra Modi in future (with the RSS), and this was stated by (BJP president JP) Nadda “, did he declare.

Thackeray was referring to Nadda’s comments in a newspaper that when the BJP was a small and less competent party, it needed the RSS, but now the saffron party has grown, become more competent and “runs itself “.

“Nadda said RSS was necessary so far, (but) we are capable of it now and we don’t need RSS. If they (BJP) come to power, the danger is greater for the RSS workers as they will ban RSS,” Thackeray said. In the past, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (then Union Home Minister) had banned the RSS, he noted.

“Those who call our party ‘nakli’ (fake) Shiv Sena will call the Sangh ‘nakli’,” Thackeray added, referring to Prime Minister Modi’s hold on the Sena (UBT).

“The entire RSS cadre is struggling to make you Prime Minister. Why are you planning to ban the RSS which gave birth to you and which gave you political power,” Thackeray asked.

He also lashed out at the Election Commission, saying “after the Indian alliance government comes to power, we will have to send home the Election Commissioner who is acting like a servant of Modi.” Anyone who works as a “servant” of the BJP regime will be sacked, the former Maharashtra chief minister said.
