BJP hopes to form government in Mizoram; ready for post-ballot reconciliation – Firstpost

The BJP is contesting 23 seats in the 40-member Mizoram Assembly elections on November 7.

The BJP, which has just one MLA in the Mizoram Assembly, said on Thursday it hoped to form the next government in the northeastern state on its own.

If the people of Mizoram deliver a split verdict, then the saffron party is ready to forge an alliance either with the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), which is already part of the NDA, or with the main opposition party, the Zoram Popular Movement (ZPM), the one which obtains the most seats.

The BJP is contesting 23 seats in the 40-member Mizoram assembly elections on November 7. In 2018, he contested in 39 constituencies and won one seat, opening his account for the first time in the State Assembly.

“Our campaign is going very well. People accept our position on various issues and understand our policies. We hope to form the government on our own this time,” said Mizoram BJP president (in-charge) Vanupa Zathang.
