BJP accuses Congress of ‘appeasement’ after party MP says ‘only Muslims can save the party’

New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday accused the Congress of appeasement of minorities after a video of former big party MP Chandanji Thakor saying that only “Muslims can save the party” surfaced on social media.

Calling the Congress the new Muslim League, BJP leader Amit Malviya tweeted: “Chandanji Thakor, Congress candidate in Gujarat elections, says only Muslim society can save this country, and if anyone can save the party from Congress, it can only be a Muslim. party… On the one hand Rahul Gandhi pretends to go to the temple during the elections, on the other his party has become the new Muslim League.

Addressing a rally in Gujarat, Congress candidate Thakor from Sidhpur, in the viral clip, is heard saying: “We gave the votes (to the BJP) to do something new, but they pushed everyone. country in depth, and if anyone can save the country, it’s the Muslim community, and if anyone can save the congress, only Muslims can do it.

“Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi came on the roads because of the NRC. There were 18 types of parties but none favored Muslims. It’s the only party that protects you, in the whole country. This BJP bothered you in some places. This BJP has raked the issue of triple talaq and abolished it. Hajj subsidy is also removed by BJP,” he added.

Reacting to the clip, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the words used by the Congressman were shameful.

Taking to Twitter, Patel said: “Shameful words! Fearing defeat, Congress once again resorts to appeasement of minorities. But the Congress must know that no one can save the Congress Party from defeat!
