This is not the first time that Trump has pushed the idea of organizing a military parade in Washington.
Inspired by the military parade on the day of the Bastille in France, the president declared that he wanted to organize a similar militarized celebration to commemorate the centenary anniversary since the end of the First World War in 2018.
However, the plan has ended up being rebuilt due to logistical problems and on the costs of approximately $ 92 million, against initial estimates of $ 12 million.
Rather than recognizing the large -scale scope of the military parade and the costs to repair potential damage to the city’s infrastructure, Trump went to Twitter to blame local politicians for the cancellation of the event.
“When we asked them to give us a price to organize a large party military parade, they wanted a certain number so ridiculously high that I canceled it,” wrote Trump on social networks at the time.
“Maybe we will do something next year to DC when the cost will drop. Now we can buy other jet fighters!” He added, referring to the F-35 Lightning II plane of Lockheed Martin.
Bowser, who has been the mayor of DC since 2015, responded to Trump’s comments, saying that she “had finally crossed (sic) the star of reality at the White House with the realities ($ 21.6 million) of parades / events / demonstrations in Trump America.”
