Billy Joel sings “Uptown Girl” for ex Christie Brinkley

Decades after their divorce, Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel’s relationship is still the subject of romance novels.

The old flames, separated for 30 years, shared a sweet and nostalgic moment Friday during Joel’s concert at his “office,” Madison Square Garden.

In a video posted on TikTok, the Sports Illustrated The model smiled from ear to ear while dancing on top of her ex-husband singing his catchy 1983 hit song “Uptown Girl.” To complement her beaming smile, Brinkley wore a dazzling metallic blue button-down shirt.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Joel’s ex-girlfriend Elle Macpherson shared that the singer began writing “Uptown Girl” while they were dating and living together. However, halfway through the process, they broke up and Joel started dating Brinkley instead. From there, Brinkley became the subject of bop and even starred in the official music video.

In another special moment of the evening, which Brinkley shared on Instagram, the couple’s daughter, Alexa Ray, joined her father on stage to sing “Say Goodbye to Hollywood.”

“Thank you for singing us a song @billyjoel and @alexarayjoel You do us good! Just a few excerpts from a magical evening in the garden!” Brinkley wrote in the caption.

Joel and Brinkley married on March 23, 1985, and welcomed Alexa Ray on December 29, 1985. After nine years of marriage, they broke up in 1994. Brinkley then married Richard Taubman in 1994 before separating in 1995, and then Peter. Cook in 1996 before splitting in 2008. Joel, meanwhile, was married to Katie Lee from 2004 to 2009 before marrying Alexis Roderick, who he is still with today.
