“In the early 1990s, the Patriots were in disarray,” Kraft said in a statement. “But the hiring of Bill Parcels in 1993, a double champion of the Super Bowl, brought an instant credibility to the franchise. We had never had a head coach with his references. He was a motivator master and has always drawn the best of his players. During my first season as a owner, he led us on what fans of seven heritage were informed. The playoffs gain in the history of the franchise and another trip to the Super Bowl.
Parcels was the Patriots’ head coach from 1993 to 1996 and led the team to two places in playoffs. He inherited a team which went 14-50 in the previous four seasons and was 32-32 with two appearances in playoffs and an AFC championship.
Parcels won the honors of the year’s coach in 1994.
He was elected to the temple of professional football fame in 2013 as the only coach in the history of the NFL to lead four different teams to the playoffs and three different teams to a conference championship match.
