Bill Maher tells actor he’s ‘crazy woke’ for refusing to ‘judge’ Islam on its treatment of women

Bill Maher called ‘Two and a Half Men’ star Jon Cryer a ‘crazy woke’ after the actor refused to criticize Islam over its strict dress code for women on his show Sunday on the “Club Random” podcast.

The show got off to a rocky start after Maher brought up the presidential election and Cryer rejected Maher’s argument that the issue of illegal immigration had hurt the Democratic Party.

Maher then addressed the decline of Western norms in areas like London, where almost 4 million people identified as Muslim in the 2021 census.

He referred to a “60 Minutes” report in which a woman was “yelled at” for walking through a Muslim neighborhood in London while wearing a skirt.

“The fact is that there are places in Western civilizations that are not run according to Western standards and that doesn’t mean they are just different,” he told Cryer.

“We should agree that women should be able to wear whatever they want,” Maher continued. “If you don’t agree with that, you’re not a liberal.”

Cryer pushed back against Maher’s view, saying that while he agreed that women should be able to wear whatever they wanted, there were many places in the world where women did not have not the freedom to dress as they wished.

“In many places, they were constantly being heckled,” Cryer said, which Maher scoffed at.

“A lot of things were happening before, but what is happening in the world now?” Maher replied. “Would you really want your wife to live in Gaza or (somewhere else) where she would have to hide?”

Cryer was reluctant to criticize the strict rules for women in these places, saying, “it’s not my culture.”

“You won’t judge him?” » asked Maher.

“I’m not going to judge him,” Cryer responded. “No.”

“It’s a crazy wake-up call for me,” Maher remarked.

The talk show host, who frequently attacks the far left, said liberals who accept intolerance in the name of diversity have “gone off the rails.”

“That’s where things went off the rails, when we became so tolerant that we tolerate intolerance,” Maher said. “You will never allow something like this to happen in this country.”

The two later argued about “woke” politics within the Democratic Party and illegal immigration that hurt Democrats in elections.

Maher argued that “stupid wokeness” allowed Trump to win re-election, alongside the Biden administration’s open borders policy.

Cryer, who joked that he was “stupid woke” at the start of the show, claimed that the real reason President-elect Donald Trump won the election was because Americans hated inflation, black women and transgender people.

“I think Americans hate inflation. They hate inflation, they hate riots, they hate black women and they hate trans people. They just spent hundreds of millions of dollars demonizing trans people and It’s disgusting,” Cryer remarked, much to Maher’s dismay.

“Oh Jon,” Maher sighed heavily. “We shouldn’t talk about politics.”
