Thakur’s candidature follows her formal induction into the BJP in Patna, where she joined the party in the presence of party chief Dilip Jaiswal. The move fueled speculation that she would contest from Alinagar, a seat currently held by BJP’s Mishrilal Yadav.
Other notable candidates include former IPS officer Anand Mishra, who will represent the party from Buxar. Mishra recently joined the BJP after leaving Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj and had planned to contest independently from this constituency.
The list also includes Ranjan Kumar, candidate from Muzaffarpur, replacing sitting MP Suresh Sharma; Ram Chandra Prasad of Hayaghat; Subhash Singh of Gopalganj; and Chhoti Kumari of Baniapur. The BJP has further nominated candidates for Chapra, Sonepur, Rosera (SC), Barh, Shahpur and Agiaon (SC) seats.
With this announcement, the BJP has now declared 83 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. The first list, released a day earlier, included 71 names, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, alongside senior leaders such as Ram Kripal Yadav, Tarkishore Prasad and Mangal Pandey. The party will contest 101 of the 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections.
Elections to the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
