The Lok Sabha elections are likely to be brought forward as the BJP fears that over time it will suffer more losses due to opposition unity, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday. supporting a similar claim made recently by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. .

Banerjee said on Monday that she feared the Lok Sabha elections would be held in December this year or in January.

Asked about this statement, Kumar told reporters, “I have been saying for seven to eight months that the NDA government in the Center may go to the snap Lok Sabha elections, fearing more losses for the BJP due to the unity of the opposition. .”

“Therefore, all opposition parties must unite to defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. I repeat once again, I have no desire for me, I have no personal ambition. My only wish is to gather as many parties as possible (opposing the BJP) before the elections,” he added.

Kumar, who recently said more parties are likely to join the opposition INDIA coalition, declined to divulge further details.

“We have taken initiatives for unity between the opposition parties. The INDIA opposition coalition will be further strengthened after the Mumbai meeting on August 31 and September 1,” he said.

The Chief Minister of Bihar was addressing reporters after inaugurating the new campus of Nalanda Open University. Kumar said the cast survey exercise has been completed and will be released soon.

He said the decision to organize a caste-based survey was unanimous and taken by the leaders of all political parties, including the BJP.
