The JD(U) leader, who severed ties with the BJP a year ago and was instrumental in bringing various opposition parties together to form the INDIA bloc, also claimed that the all-party alliance was “intact”, dispelling speculation that there was an internal fault.

“I said that the NDA government at the Center was planning to hold early elections to Lok Sabha. Humlog har samay tayyar hai (We are always ready)… Let them do it early,” Nitish Kumar told reporters in Patna.

The chief minister made the remark in response to questions from journalists seeking his views on the possibility of the Lok Sabha polls being advanced by the Centre.

Nitish Kumar said, “We are all united and intact. We have worked for the people and will continue to serve them. We have done a lot of development work in Bihar. It is the voters who will make the final decision (Janta Faisla Legi).”

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who was present there, also told reporters, “We are intact and will fight together in the upcoming elections.”

Kumar, who maintained that the media was being hobbled by the current regime, also said that a change in regime would herald a ‘mukti’ (liberation) for the journalist fraternity.

“Let the government at the Center change, you (journalists) will get ‘mukti’. At present, the media is controlled by the government at the Centre. I support journalists. When everyone has complete freedom, journalists will write what they want,” he said.
