Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Asaduddin Owaisi launches campaign with Seemanchal Nyay Yatra

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi will begin his election campaign for the Bihar Assembly on September 24 with the launch of the ‘Seemanchal Nyay Yatra’.

The four-day rally will run till September 27 and will see the Hyderabad MP holding road shows and corner meetings in constituencies in the Seemanchal region, the party said in a statement on Tuesday (September 23), PTI reported.

The yatra will begin from Kishanganj, Owaisi aimed at mobilizing public support around issues of development and justice for the region.

He has repeatedly flagged the backwardness of the Seemanchal region and had earlier tabled a private member’s bill in the Lok Sabha seeking the establishment of a Seemanchal region development council under Article 371 of the Indian Constitution.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the AIMIM party contested 20 seats and won five, all from Seemanchal. The party said it is likely to contest in more constituencies this time, with many “influential political leaders and social workers” expressing interest in running on its list.

CWC Congress to meet in Patna

As the Bihar polls, scheduled for October-November 2025, fast approach, the political divide is widening day by day.

The Congress Working Committee is expected to meet in Patna on Wednesday, September 24, marking the first such gathering in Bihar in the post-Independence era, according to PTI.

To be held at Sadaqat Ashram, the extended session will be attended by permanent and special guests, state unit presidents, chief ministers of Congress-ruled states and senior leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

Meeting expected to focus on party strategy and so-called ‘vote’ issue chori” (vote theft), PTI reported quoting party sources.

The deliberations follow Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ and recent press conferences in which he accused the Election Commission of shielding those involved in suppressing votes of Congress supporters, a charge the election body dismissed as “incorrect and baseless”.

Allegations against ruling NDA leaders

Senior BJP leader and former Union minister RK Singh has urged Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary to “tell the truth” about the allegations leveled by party founder Jan Suraaj Prashant Kishor or “resign”.

This added to the political heat in the state.

Kishor questioned Samrat Choudhary’s educational qualifications and alleged Ashok Choudhary’s involvement in questionable land purchases worth ₹200 million. He also accused BJP leader Dilip Jaiswal of irregularities in the acquisition of a minority college, according to PTI.

“If they have any evidence to dispute the allegations, they should present it and might even sue Prashant Kishor for defamation. If not, they should step down,” Singh added.
