Big ten baseball turns disappointing: the seeded n ° 1 Oregon Ducks loses against Nebraska

The first season of the Oregon baseball team in the Big Ten conference will not end with a championship.

The seeded ducks suffered a 7-3 defeat against the eighth seeded cornhuskers Le Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday morning during the last swimming pool match of the Big Ten baseball tournament in Omaha.

The Nebraska, which finished 2-0 in the swimming pool, advanced to face the Penn Stateny Lions in the final of a triple head on Saturday at Charles Schwab Field. The winner of this semi-final will play in the Sunday championship, where he will face the winner of the Bruins of the UCLA and the Iowa Hawkeyes, who met in the other semi-final of the tournament.

The Ducks (42-14), on the other hand, must now wait to find out if they have won a national seed – and an advantage in the field – in the NCAA baseball tournament.

The disappointment of the Big Ten of Oregon tournament started late Friday evening, when its confrontation against the Nebraska was postponed due to the bad weather, creating a fight as a winner early in the morning.

And it only worsened from there.

The Cornhuskers burnt down the Ducks, AS Grayson Grinéll, from his third launch to his last, crushing eight strokes and marking six points before continuing the left -handed in the fifth round.

Riley Silva opened the match by hitting a simple head on the third throw and Gabe Swansen thwarted two two-point strikers at home three strikers later, marking the Nebraska in a 2-0 advance advance. The Cornhuskers then scored four points in the following four rounds, using five strokes – and a pair of Oregon errors – to build 6-1.

The final shot came at the top of the fifth round, when Cayden Brumbauugh, Swansen and Case Sanderson opened with simple consecutive to score two points and Chase Grincell.

Swansen finished 2 for 5 with two products produced and two points scored and Brumbash added two strokes, a point produced and a marked point for the Cornhuskers, who struck 11 strokes, three of which have opted for additional bases.

Grinsell (9-3) worked during its shortest release of the season, during which the summits of the season equaled in the races and the blows allowed. This did not help that the botched ducts made four errors and granted two unprecedented races.

The AS of Nebraska Jackson Brockett (4-3), on the other hand, was effective, granting only one point on six sleeves. He finished with four stick withdrawals and granted six strokes and two steps to win for the fourth time during his last six departures.

The Cornhuskers (30-27) should finish second with conference coaches in pre-season, but worked for a surprisingly rough regular season, ending equal to the eighth with Penn State.

But they have increased on the section, winning 11 of their last 15 games, and now sitting on two victories to win an automatic berth at the NCAA baseball tournament.

Even with the defeat, the Ducks, fourth – who saw their sequence of 11 -game victories – are a quasi -glass to win a national seed. The only question before the selection of Monday is whether they will be the first eight seeds, which will lock the advantage of the home field through the super regionals, or a top 16 series, which will bring a regional to Eugene.

The field of 64 teams will be announced on Monday at 9 a.m.
