Biden tells Howard Stern that women would send him ‘very salacious’ photos in the 1970s, that he was college football’s ‘runner-up’ and that he saved six people from drowning in bizarre interview with Howard Stern

Joe Biden once again discussed the possibility of fighting Donald Trump on the playing field in a meandering interview with Howard Stern that took the president through family tragedies, morbid thoughts and memories of his time as a young widower in the Senate where his love life has become a “celebrity problem.” .’

Biden said he would be ‘happy’ to meet Trump on the debate stage, after questioning the idea during a bizarre conversation with Stern on his Sirius XM that lasted more than an hour and touched on highlights from Biden’s action-packed life story, aged 81.

“Trump’s making fun of me, right? » Biden told Stern. “Here’s the kind of guy who would really like to be able to settle down in the neighborhood…” he said without finishing his thought.

Stern asked a series of heartbreaking questions about the car crash that claimed the lives of Biden’s first wife, Neilia, and his 1-year-old daughter, Naomi. But things quickly turned to when Biden was romantically available — and women noticed.

“I made the list of the ten most eligible bachelors,” he told Stern, who noted that he was a U.S. senator at the time.

“And a lot of lovely women, but women, would send very salacious pictures and I would just give them to the Secret Service.” And I thought someone would think I was…’ he said, without specifying why the agency that manages presidential security would be involved.

He decided to put an end to his romantic activities.

“And I just gave up,” Biden said. Then: “I received a call from my brother. So I have a daughter here in Delaware – Jill is nine years younger than me. He said you would like it. She doesn’t like politics,” he continued, describing the events that led to his second marriage.

It was one of the few times their conversation veered into the territory where Stern had built a reputation as a radio shocker. For much of the interview, Stern asked a series of biographical questions about softball in an interview that culminated with the host sharing his own exasperation over how people could vote for someone who told a Georgia election official to “find 11,780” votes.

Biden recounted his time working as a lifeguard in a predominantly black neighborhood in Delaware.

Biden recounted having rescued six people from distress, without boasting of the effort.

“Have you ever saved anyone’s life when you were a lifeguard?” ” He asked.

“Half a dozen times,” Biden replied.

Stern was ready to see more on the big screen and repeatedly expressed astonishment at what Biden had experienced.

“It’s a big deal. We should play that in the movie of your life,” Stern advised.

The two spoke about the dark times following the car crash tragedy.

“You don’t have to be crazy to commit suicide,” he said. ‘

” I dont drink. It’s not a virtue. I just never drank. And I used to sit there and be like, I think I’m going to pull out a bottle of scotch. We always had alcohol in the house…and I would just go drink and get drunk and I could never bring myself to do it. And actually, I thought to you, you don’t have to be crazy to kill yourself. If you’ve been to the top of a mountain, you think it will never be there again. And just for a brief moment, I thought maybe I would go to the Delaware Memorial Bridge and jump. but I had two children.

Biden also regaled Stern with stories about his high school football career.

“You were like the first string guy. You’re the one who caught the ball,” Stern told him.

“Second highest score in the state!” What is it, Biden continued. “Wow,” STern said.

Stern tried to extract comments from Biden on the Supreme Court, whose conservative rulings have shaped electoral politics, even saying the Violence Against Women Act he helped write was under threat.

“I have to be careful what I say about the court,” Biden said, calling the law one of his “proudest accomplishments.”

It was Stern who recounted the time Senate Republicans led by Biden-friendly Sen. Mitch McConnell killed Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.

“Those Sen maniacs said no. And now we have a Supreme Court that is crazy,” Stern said.

“It’s a really conservative court. Perhaps the most conservative court in modern history,” Biden said.

Stern, who has interviewed Trump in the past, has not participated in the ongoing Stormy Daniels trial in his home state of New York. But he stood out during the accusations against Trump on January 6.

“What are we debating? A man picked up the phone and wanted to say that he had faked the election. Give me 11,000 votes. I don’t know how any American who loves this country. This is the end of the debate. You can’t run if you want to rig an election.

Biden lashed out at Trump’s inaction at the White House during the Capitol riot. “It was abandoned. It was almost criminal,” he said.

In his commentary on the Trump debate, Biden went beyond previous coverage.

“I’m somewhere, I don’t know when. I’m happy to debate him,” he told Stern.

Last March, Biden hedged, saying in March that “it depends on his behavior.”

“Okay, let’s set it up!” » Trump campaign senior adviser Chris LaCivita posted the comment shortly after.
