President Joe Biden’s campaign knocked out presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump after the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a record 40,000 on Thursday.

“The hardest news yet for the only American who supports collapsing the economy because he thinks it will help him politically,” said Michael Tyler, communications director for Biden’s campaign. “Donald Trump promised the stock market would collapse if Joe Biden was elected. Instead, Joe Biden broke economic records across the board.”

The Dow Jones milestone comes as Biden is effectively tied with Trump in national polls, as the former president stands trial in New York.

The Biden camp is looking to use this historic moment for the Dow as a way to tout what it sees as a strong economy, unlike when Trump was president.

Trump used a similar tactic when he was in office. After the Dow hit 30,000 in 2020, Trump held a White House press conference to tout the milestone.
