Biden says ‘no’ to using 14th Amendment to raise debt limit, he ‘can’t solve our challenges now’

On Friday’s “CNN This Morning” Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo said the only way to solve the debt ceiling issues is for Congress to raise the debt ceiling and that President Joe Biden will not invoke the 14th Amendment and therefore “cannot solve our challenges now.”

Adeyemo said, “The 14th Amendment cannot solve our problems now. In the end, the only thing that can do that is for Congress to do what it’s done 78 times, raise the debt ceiling. We don’t have a plan B that allows us to honor the commitments we made to our creditors, to our seniors, to our veterans, to the American people. The only plan we have is the one that has worked for over 200 years in this country, which is that the United States of America must pay all its bills and pay them on time. And Congress has the ability to do that and the President is calling on them to act as quickly as possible. »
